more pasteback to the paste,paste is only a ground bait mixed into a paste and used on the hook and it comes in all shapes and sizes and colours,ie sillybait is a good one ,as is ringers, I normally take three types with me,and they are quite stiff,soft and very soft and will sometimes drip off the hook if your not careful,the breakdown period is between 10 secs and one min,the float should rise out of the water when to paste has leaked off, remember that paste is sucked up by the fish and then bolts off,also remember that when paste fishing the carp tend to be on the big side,my best carp in a match using paste was 23lbs 12oz,hence the black hydro,using this kind of rig means you dont lose many fish,bites from carp are ether straught under or lift bites,if the float waves from side to side that is a carp moving its tail,or sudden dips could be small fish or skimmers,tip when using paste on the hook do not throw in any other bait like sweetcorn as you want the fish to take your paste and not the other bait, I hope this helps regards trevor.
