I spoke to Les at Pittlands today:
The lake is about 3 acres in size and is between 6-7ft deep on average although it as a couple of deeper gullies in the middle at 11ft deep.
Les said that bread is a good winter bait on the match lake, but soft pellet will always work on pole or feeder.
The lake has an island in feeder range, but no features with in pole range...
We have booked 30 pegs (which is the max on the lake) but the lake could hold 42 so pegging is good.
Sat Nav for the lake is TN12 8HL
Pittlands Lakes
Churn Lane
Horsmonden
TN12 8HL
Cheers guys ...cant wait ... see you on the 10th Feb

Hi guys
I spoke to a mate of mine on e-mail the other day, as I am fishing the Invictia league this year in kent.
He said that Pittlands is just STUFFED with carp ..his best match weight for the lake we are fishing is 390lb in 5 hours !!!!
Let hope the carp are playing ball next Sunday ! could be fun !

Only just got back from Stafford Moor so didn't see this post until today. Ok gents, here is the info you all wanted......
Match record at Pittlands is 441lb 10oz in 5 hours!! I know because I hold it It was the World Match Record at the time. The banks are grass (no platforms) it could be a bit muddy so take your boots. Most fish average between 1lb - 3lb with a sprinkling of bigger fish up to about 8lb but to be honest they never get a look in because the smaller carp get to your bait first!. Not sure if you will be having a weigh-in half way through the match as some clubs do because of the huge weights. To be honest you need at least three nets - lets see you lads being kind to the fish it's just silly putting 100lb+ in a keepnet in this day and age. Anyway, pellet is the best bait. Nothing complicated, forget your corn, worm, meat etc..... but take some maggots just incase, there are some smashin' rudd to be caught if the fancy takes you or the carp don't oblige (do pigs fly?). No need to go long, most fish will be caught within 6 metres of the bank and on some pegs a top 3 is more than enough. The fish are not hook shy so make sure your gear is up to the task. Forget about 2lb main line, use 3lb or 4lb because if you get amonst the fish your rigs will get a lot of hammer
May the force be with you lads _________________ Dare to be different....... |
