Hello Guys
I fished Hawkhurst on sunday and had most of my carp on pellett but I did try some paste and didnt have much luck, it either fell off the hook before I got the float or the bait in the water or i would get the bait in the water and i would get a few dips on the float before it went under , I would strike and miss it each time.
I was using a bought paste mix with a water level so I know I mixed it right.
Should I wait longer after the float goes under to strike or should I make the paste stiffer or what ?
Any advice would help as I know it can be a deadly method.
Cheers Mark

| hi mark when i fish paste i make it up the night before. and leave it in the fridge, i make it on the soft side and fish in the summer with a size 12hook. i under shot the float so with a lump of paste it take,s the tip down, i mostly fish dead depth. you will get lots of knocks and dips but i wait.count to 3 then strike, it take time to get used to it and somedays can drive you crazy. but every time you miss a bite, your still feeding the swim as the paste falls off, if your out on the lavender farm match if you like i will make some up for you, hope that helps m8 |

| paste fishing, use shop made paste or soak pellets in water for a couple of hours then mash them up with a fork bag up,then nead the paste in a bucket this is to get the air out of it , its like neading bread this is done for 10mins ,bag it up and put it in the freezer, to fish paste you really need between 18ins and 5ft depth of water ,I dont use any shot on the line but let the paste cock the float to the required depth, hook size depends on the fishery rules,6lbs bs line, black hydro ,completes the rig. a feeding pot is then put on the pole tip and the paste is shipped out and just turn the pot two the left and the paste will roll out, feeding if you feed to much you will get a load of liners which is a no no in paste fishing so when you ship out the pole with the paste in the pot put a few pellets in as well , if any one would like tips on paste fishing Im at lavender farm on sunday and im more than happy to show you how to get the best out of paste, regards trevor |

am no expert on paste fishing but i do do it alot, the best paste i have found is the van den mirco pellet, just soak it for a couple of hours and then push it throug a maggot riddle, and you get a lovely paste ready to use, to boost it there are many things out there put i use maineline pt10 it smells like cold sunday dinner but it does work, you just need to work at it, keep things nice and simple
